Looking for work...

For the first time in awhile, I have to go on the job trail. Not the glamorous, operatic auditioning-around-the-country job trail, but the REAL job trail.  I'm trying to take the season off to save money, and that means I gotta get a real job.

I don't think anyone likes doing this.  Any suggestions of opera-singer compatible work out there?  I have very high level technical skills, but the trick is finding work that pays well, and has a flexible enough schedule that I can take off for gigs without getting fired.  Ideas?

you make websites don't you? I have friends who free-lance doing that. As for me, I have a plum job editing Rossini scores and such. I totally reccommend becoming a research assistant for a professor. It's super felxible, and if you're working over 20 hours Universities give great benefits! Though I don't know how the heck you would get something like that....The trick is staying out of corperate America. Non-profits are great, and academia is great, they are both far more likely to let you take a week off randomly. (good luck! looking for a job is possibly the worst job in existance)

I'm in the same boat, but over the pond. It sucks. Maybe we should set up a company!! They don't really train you for this at college.
